Hard to believe but Logan has been with us for 6 months now. I am constantly amazed by just how quickly he changes. When he was born he was 6lbs 11oz. Yesterday at the doctor, he weighed in at 18lbs 12oz. Holy Smoke! MAN am I glad I had my shoulder surgery when I did. Trying to heave him in his baby seat into and out of the car means holding almost 30lbs at full arm extension. Who needs a gym membership?!?!? Actually, he is closer to the norm in weight now. At the 4 month mark he was in the 90th percentile for weight, now he is in the 75th.
The more amazing thing about Logan is he is just such a happy little guy. Much more of the time than not, he is smiling and just watching things in his environment intently. Occasionally he’ll have an off day, but they are the exception not the rule. In celebration of Michelle’s birthday (albeit a bit late) on Saturday we went shopping at several plant nurseries. Remember, it is June in the Mississippi Delta here. HOT! It was in the mid 90s with probably 60% humidity. Our little trooper was decked out with his sunshade hat, and comfy clothes. I was the official “parent on duty” which allowed Michelle some much deserved down time, and allowed her to shop at her leisure.
I had a great time hanging out with my little man, and Michelle enjoyed indulging in her hobby.
Michelle and her sister are preparing to go back down to Houston, so I’m spending as much time as I can with Logan. The related good news is that Marvin is doing much better. He has been moved out of ICU, and did so well in a normal room that they have now moved him to a room in the rehabilitation wing. (no not THAT kind of rehab…physical rehab) He is improving much more quickly now that hope has returned to his life. Truly an answer to prayer.
Sorry to bounce around so much subject wise, but we started reading to Logan this week on a regular basis. We had read some, but not regularly, but we were prompted by a friend who sent a thoughtful gift. Thanks Sarah. Yes, she is a teacher. And yes Sarah, we’re reading to him, and he surprised us both by being absolutely enthralled. It is hard to argue that he is too young to appreciate it when he stares at the pages intently the whole time you are reading to him. Thanks for your gift, it is enriching many lives.
